What we offer

Our Post 16 experience programme is designed to be as enjoyable and memorable as possible. We aim to develop the all-round skills that universities and employers are looking for in modern society and want our young people to go out and make a positive contribution in the world as professionals once they leave Queensmead.

Values Team

Students have the opportunity to join our Values Team. These students are members of our community who go above and beyond in displaying our Queensmead Values of Kindness, Resilience, Independence and Respect. They help members of staff and younger students with school events such as charity fundraisers, inter-form activities and other student led initiatives.

EPQ

All students will be offered the opportunity to take on the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), an additional qualification that offers UCAS points and can lead to reduced offers from universities upon completion.

Our team of experienced EPQ tutors offer small group classes in Year 13 to guide students through the process, allowing students to develop their independent learning skills.

School Trips

We pride ourselves on the number of trip opportunities that we provide to enhance our students understanding of the subjects that they study.

In previous years, trips have been run to Iceland, Pompeii, Rome, Morocco and New York City.

Students will also be invited to rewards trips based on their attendance and attitude to learning in lessons.

P16 Sport

Our students are able to take part in a number of after-school sporting events, including football, netball and rugby matches against other schools, as well as making use of the school gym at the end of the day.

Various sports clubs are also available, including trampolining and badminton.

Volunteering and Mentoring

All students joining Post 16 will be expected to carry out community service as part of their wider responsibilities in the school.

Alongside this, Year 12 students act as mentors to students further down the school, offering them the opportunity to pass on their advice and expertise to benefit others.

There are also a number of opportunities for students to volunteer outside of school and students are supported by the Post 16 team to develop their extracurricular interests in a wide variety of ways.

We also support students to write suitable application letters for competitive work experience opportunities in the Law and Medical sectors.

Post 16 students have free access to Goals South Ruislip, which has a wide range of synthetic football pitches available.

Students are also able to access the Better Queensmead Gym without charge immediately after the end of the school day, with access to a wide range of professional fitness equipment.
